BancNet members reached 59 in 2009
The number of members in BancNet has reached 59 at the end of 2009.
Last year, BancNet welcomed into its roster 10 new members, these are: Philippine National Bank (PNB), Equicom Savings Bank, Maybank Philippines, China Bank Savings, Wealth Bank, Entrepreneur Bank, Optimum Development Bank, Rural Bank of Dulag, Gubat St. Anthonry Cooperative and News Multi-Purpose Cooperative.
This brings the automated teller machine (ATM) network of BancNet to almost 4,000 units, staking its claim as the only multi-bank, multi-channel payment gateway in the country.
With the new membership, the number of BancNet ATM cardholders now has reached 8.4 million, increasing by 1.5 million or 22.85 percent in 2009.
The number payment terminal networks of BancNet has also expanded to 11,435 terminals in more than 2,700 retail establishments all over the country. This allows cardholders to pay using their ATM card. They can also pay their bills to 76 merchants either through the ATMS, the bancnetonline.com website, or through their mobile phones.
