Google gives RP firms free websites


Here’s good news for small businesses who want to have their businesses get Web exposure. Google is offering business stimulus package to companies in the Philippines. Together with STI Colleges, internet giant Google has offered to build free website for 200 local firms belonging to the micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), as well as give them P2,000 worth of free credits on Google Adwords.

Head of marketing for Google Southeast Asia, Derek Callow said, this is a one-time offer which aims to boost the online presence of local firms and help them harness the power of the internet to grow their business.

Callow said any company in the Philippines which has a product to sell and a valid business permit can apply for the business stimulus package. He said the first 200 businesses to sign up at the www.google.com.ph/stimullus until December 15, 2009 will have their company websites developed by STI College for free.

Applicants after the first 200 companies, Callow added, will only need to pay a one-time fee of P3,000 to STI College for the website development. There will be no charges on the webhosting because they will be hosted on Blogger.com, which is also owned by Google.

This business stimulus package, according to Callow is “unique to this region.”

This project was done in partnership with the Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT). Go Negosyo and STI Colleges.


This is definitely a good start for small businesses and new entrepreneurs, to get international exposure at the least possible cost. With the global reach of the internet, they will have to get their product out there in no time. So hurry now, and be among the first 200 companies to get this great opportunity.
